Coppers & Brass - Cillian Vallely - Lunasa

Cillian is a gifted Armagh-born uilleann pipes and low whistle player. Cillian has toured in the US, performing with bands such as New York-based 'Whirligig', Paddy O'Brien's 'Chulrua' and with Clare fiddler Seamus Connolly. He was featured as uilleann pipes soloist in the Broadway production of 'Riverdance' and toured with Tim O'Brien in "The Crossing." Cillian and his brother Niall have released album titled "Callan Bridge" on Compass Records.

Niall and Cillian Vallely learned their music the old-fashioned way - from their parents Brian (Uilleann pipes ) and Eithne (fiddle), who founded the Armagh Pipers' Club, a group that for over three decades has fostered the revival of traditional music in Ireland's north.

Cillian took up his father's instrument and polished his skills with tutelage from the late Armagh piper Mark Donnelly. His mastery of chanter, drones and regulators, and of all the accents and moods of the traditional piping idiom, place him in the first rank of today's Irish pipers. Cillian is member of the band Luanasa.
